Completely Managed Outsourced IT

Eastern & Western Idaho Managed IT Provider
Eventually, all businesses need an IT partner to manage, plan, fix and secure their technology with the expertise that only a professional can provide. How do you know when you’re ready? The Idaho businesses we work with typically follow a path we call the Evolution of Technology Support. And it starts with Chuck.
New companies typically use a pay-by-the-hour tech service. In the IT industry, we refer to this guy as a “One Man Band” or “Chuck-in-the-Truck.”
Chuck has limited resources and no employees. He charges by the hour and sells businesses block hours of service time. Chuck is the you-break-it-I-fix-it guy, providing purely reactive support, without cybersecurity, daily monitoring, or a help desk function.
Most businesses stick with Chuck until around 10 employees or more. Now, they need professional IT support. Bye, Chuck.
So they outsource their IT to a managed services provider (MSP). Now they have a dedicated IT resource without having to hire a full-time IT staff member. Because while in-house IT is nice, this way saves a ton in payroll taxes, employee benefits, and disruptions when the IT staff is on vacation or out sick.
Outsourced IT is usually priced at a flat monthly fee and includes (depending on the MSP) 24/7 network monitoring, regular patching and updates, cybersecurity, technology budgeting and consulting, and a service desk.
The next phase of Tech Support typically happens between 40-50 employees. At this point, the company’s budget is mature enough to heavily invest in IT and hire a full-time, in-house IT team.
But you shouldn’t just fire your outsourced IT company. The best strategy for most Idaho organizations is to actually have both. We call this tech harmony “co-managed IT”.
With co-managed IT, you’re getting in-house help plus outsourced experts, for a deeper well of resources and knowledge than you could have on staff. It’s expert support for your own IT team and it’s essential.
Because, whether you realize it or not, every business decision you make is reliant on your technology. New malware threats are released every day, ransomware attacks on businesses are on a steep incline, and distributed, modern teams are becoming more dependent on technology. It’s your lifeline; you can’t afford to be cheap.
If you’ve hit this page, that means you’ve been searching for IT services or managed IT services in your area. We know you have a lot of questions if you are looking for a new support provider. Here's some answers to the most common questions about our IT service and pricing (also addressed in Aaron's video above).
Managed IT services encompass several aspects of your company's infrastructure support needs. Example: A service desk – friendly people to help your employees when they’re having a bad technology day. Another example would be the support of your infrastructure – routers, switches, servers, so forth protecting your data. Backups are part of Managed IT services and so is ongoing continuous monitoring of your environment (monitoring meaning looking out for the health and wellness and availability and uptime of your critical infrastructure and the services that it provides to your staff).
Here at TotalCare IT, the answer to that is absolutely. We strive to fix most problems remotely so we can get you back up and running quickly, but in the event that we're unable to fix your problem remotely we will quickly dispatch a support engineer to go on site to your company to resolve the issue. We have offices in Boise and in Idaho Falls to serve East and West Idaho businesses.
One of the most important aspects of managed IT services goes beyond the service desk and what we can accomplish for our clients on-site and it gets into what we refer to as strategy building or technology success for your business. We work with your business taking a consultative approach where our virtual Chief Information Officer (think of this as your personalized IT director for your business) works with you to create individualized strategy and roadmap plans helping you build a 6-, 12-, and 18-month technology roadmap and budgeting process.
We are constantly helping our clients manage changes in the technology industry and also be on the lookout for when technology goes out of support by the manufacturer. Example: a version of a Windows operating system - we want to be in front of that way before that version goes out of support from the manufacturer so that we can continue to get proper security and important updates for that operating system.
Often when I meet with prospects, they tell me that with their current provider it's difficult to understand the monthly invoices that they receive. At TotalCare IT, our pricing is simple. We have a flat fee every single month that is negotiated ahead of time so there's no surprises. This fee is either based on the number of computers or the number of users that you have in your environment that we will be supporting. All aspects of support under managed services are included in this monthly support fee.
Outside of the general flat fee billing model, is there anything else that our agreements charge for? The answer to that would be yes: projects. If there's anything new that takes more than a couple of hours to complete (example might be a very large server migration or an office building move) then that would be a project fee and it would be scoped out separately from the monthly managed services because that request is not under the current support that was agreed upon.
We work with construction companies, manufacturing companies, CPA firms, law firms, medical offices, medical billing offices, engineering firms, agricultural firms, and general business as well. Our typical client has about 20 or more employees, and they rely on us daily for keeping their people working.
At TotalCare IT, our managed and co-managed IT services are complete tech support partnerships. We go beyond fixing what’s broken to provide onsite and remote support, proactive planning, strategy, security, and more.
